“Invitation to Daniel Buren, Plantations: Site-Specific Works, 2026 / Collections” In the summer of 2026, the Musée des Impressionnismes in Giverny invited Daniel Buren to take over the museum’s spaces. The reputation of this contemporary French artist, born in 1938, extends far beyond national borders.

With *Plantations*, a series of site-specific works, Daniel Buren presents a unique creation that extends from the gardens into the museum’s interior, creating a dialogue between the Giverny landscape and the works in the collection. Scattered throughout the Giverny landscape, his *Plantations* create sweeping vistas of color— tinted with blue, yellow, black, red, and purple—that blend into the verdant setting of the hill and gardens and extend into the interior of the galleries.

Alongside the exhibition, the Musée des Impressionnismes Giverny is presenting, as it does every summer, a selection of works from its collections. %C0 Inside the exhibition galleries, approximately 70 works—including paintings, sculptures, graphic arts, photographs, and decorative arts—are displayed across five sections dedicatedto different concepts related to artistic sensibility, within which dialogues unfold between Impressionist masterpieces and contemporary art: immersion, horizon, radiance, nuances, and structure.

From the lush nature painted by Pierre Bonnard, Gustave Caillebotte, or Maude Maris to the seascapes and gardens where sky and water meet by Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet, or Hiramatsu Reiji, the exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in the landscape and to reflect on the limits of pictorial space.
